Ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera and Naranjo


The 65 minutes boat ride across the Gulf of Nicoya is a scenic and relaxing trip with great views of the peninsula, and passing by small islands only inhabited by colonies of maritime birds.

Take the ferry at 5:00 p.m. for a scenic
sunset trip across the Gulf of Nicoya

With a Car on the Ferry:

A simple car with driver included costs approx $ 24 one way. Only the driver may stay in the car when driving on the ferry, all other passengers must walk on board. An adult ferry ticket costs around $ 1.70
Around Christmas, New Year and Easter week be prepared to wait a long time in the ferry line-up.

It's not possible to make a reservation.

Tambor: 24 km
Montezuma: 48 km
Mal Pais and Santa Teresa: 58 km

Be prepared: The roads on the Southern Nicoya Peninsula, Province of Puntarenas, might be the worst of whole Costa Rica.

Attention Bus Travelers:
The 5:00 p.m. ferry from Puntarenas is the last one which connects to the public bus to Montezuma, Mal Pais and Santa Teresa. If you are on a later ferry you must take a taxi which costs around $50.
