Animals on the Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica

Aracari

The Fiery-billed Aracaris are the smaller cousins of toucans. Bands of up to 10 birds roam through the upper levels of forests searching for fruits and insects.

Up to 5 sleep together in one old woodpecker hole, sharing the task of caring for each others babies while nesting.

Red-lored Parrots

Red-lored Parrots are gregarious birds which travel around in large groups, invading fruit trees or chatting noisily in front of your bedroom in the early morning.

They are monogamous for life and sometimes you can watch pairs of parrots sitting romantically together conversing and grooming each other.
